Rocket Simulation

The Rocket Data Simulation can be used to simulate data value change for various applications to model various point characteristics. Data simulations are added, removed, and edited on a point-by-point basis in the Rocket Configuration editor. The type of data simulation and the properties associated with each simulation can be configured to generate different simulation behaviours.

Several base simulation types are supported for Analog and Digital data types. Further simulation behaviours can be added if required. In the following configuration setups, the Interval field is one of Milliseconds, Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, and Months.

Sine Wave Simulation

rs1The generated waveform is a sine wave oscillating between a minimum and maximum value. The following configuration parameters provide full control over the simulation characteristic of one or groups of points:

  • Interval - type and count
  • Min - minimum simulation value
  • Max - maximum simulation value
  • Period - the period for the sine wave

Sawtooth Simulation

The generated waveform is a sawtooth in which the value increases linearly from the minimum to maximum value at which point the value drops to the minimum value. The configured rs2parameters are:

  • Interval - type and count
  • Min - minimum simulation value
  • Max - maximum simulation value
  • Period - the period for the sawtooth

Step Simulation

The generated waveform is a waveform which increases linearly between the minimum and maximum values and then decreases linearly from the maximum to the minimum value. The rs3following configuration parameters provide full control over the simulation characteristic of one or groups of points:

  • Interval - type and count
  • Min - minimum simulation value
  • Max - maximum simulation value
  • Step - the absolute value change at each interval

Square Wave Simulation

The generated waveform is a square wave where the waveform alternates between the minimum and maximum values. The following configuration parameters provide full rs4control over the simulation characteristic of one or groups of points:

  • Interval - type and count
  • Min - minimum simulation value
  • Max - maximum simulation value
  • OffTime - interval spent at the minimum value
  • OnTime - interval spent at the maximum value

Digital points can be simulated in square waveform. The configuration parameters are similar to the analog points except for the minimum and maximum values.

High Performance

The Rocket Simulation engine can generate high event rates. historian4 Simulations task can generate a sustained event rate of 30,000 data changes per second on a typical desktop computer. minimum and maximum values.

The Perfect Test Tool

The simulation capabilities of the Rocket Simulation module have proven to be an extremely easy and valuable tool for testing the system. Simulation can be used for testing I/O mapping, system load, steady state signal emulation with preconfigured error.
